February Thinking Skills update
The Thinking Goes On!
We may not be together in the building, but our students have continued to demonstrate their excellence in thinking skills. From tutor time tasks discussing mindset and resilience to classwork using thinking tools there has been no let up in our approach to developing our students’ ability to face the wider world.
As a staff we have focused on ‘visible learning routines’ sharing expertise and resources through our bulletin, such as ‘Circle of Viewpoints’ and ‘3-2-1 bridge’.
In form times students have looked at mindset activities; for example, Year 11 has been looking at revision and rewards, using a planner to work out what and when to revise, and how to reward yourself when you keep motivated and stick with your plan.
In lessons students have continued to use maps, hats, keys etc. We hope you enjoy seeing some examples of their work.
But most importantly, our students have demonstrated excellent levels of persistence and dedication to their work. They have responded to the challenges with grit, working well together to help overcome the barriers and using a great deal of humour to help get through this period of disruption. I think Costa and Kallick would see our students as a wonderful representation of what they have been trying to explain through their work on Habits of Mind.
So to all of our students – well done. We are proud of you and what you have accomplished. We know it is not easy, but you are a fabulous group who really will go on to do great things in the future with the skills you have so adeptly developed.
