MGGS Great Big Dance Off now in Nationals!
On Monday 27th March MGGS took 74 students in Years 7-13 to compete in the South East regional heat of the National competition the Great Big Dance Off.
The standard of competition was extremely high with schools competing for a place in the National Finals. Five groups from MGGS competed in total, 3 in the KS3 category and 2 in the KS4/5 category. All of our students performed brilliantly, we are so proud of them all.
Within the KS3 competition our Year 9 Spectrum group came 2nd, and within the KS4/5 competition our G-Fix Commercial group also came 2nd!
We now have two groups competing in the National finals in Cheltenham in July and wish them the best of luck!
Special thank you to our leaders who choreographed brilliant routines and gave up their time to lead dance groups. These are: Izzy S, Sophie A, Maggie D, Meg E, Rhiannon S, Grace R, Pippa W, Hannah L and Olivia O.
“I just wanted to say thank you for last night. I thought everyone from MGGS did great. My daughter has never had a dance lesson in her life and spends so much time doing gymnastics it was lovely to see her doing something different and doing it so well (in my completely unbiased opinion of course ). Thanks for the opportunity – I really hope she keeps up the dancing at school.”
“We just wanted to thank you for going above and beyond with regards to dance. My daughter has absolutely loved being part of the competition that took place yesterday and the joy was plain to see on the faces of all the children that took part in the event. We know these things can often take way more work than we imagine with regards to admin, organising, safeguarding etc, not to mention the amount of personal time that gets taken up.
Events like these can enrich a child’s time at school significantly and my daughter is testament to that – she was on cloud 9!
All the MGGS girls did you proud yesterday! Please also pass on our thanks to the young ladies that choreographed the dance and spent time teaching it every Wednesday – they should be proud of themselves.”
