“Journey Through History: Our Last Primary School Visit to the WWII Tunnels” for 2024!
“This is not the end… this is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” – Winston Churchill, 1942
As we complete our final visit of the 2024 Primary School WW2 Education Programme, we reflect on a year filled where we were able to bring history to life and create lasting memories for our visitors. Our new temporary WW2 classroom has been a hit with students, with one even declaring it “the coolest school trip ever”!
This week also marked the departure of one of our fantastic WW2 Experience Volunteers, Miss Ward. As she embarks on an exciting adventure abroad, we express our sincere gratitude for her invaluable contributions. Miss Ward said “The front set of tunnels was just being opened as I left MGGS so, having been there for the discovery, I knew I had to volunteer when I saw there was a vacancy. It’s been an amazing experience to help plan school visits as well as run them and I can’t think of a better way to volunteer during my university holidays”
We’re already looking forward to 2025 and will be opening bookings early in the New Year. Stay tuned for our upcoming volunteer recruitment drive as we continue to seek dedicated individuals to share their passion for history with the next generation.
