On Tuesday 4th October, MGGS took part in a team maths competition heat at Invicta Grammar School. The team consisted of four Year 11 students these being Absara P, Tegan G-R, Ruby H and me (Victoria W). The other competing schools were Oakwood Park Grammar School, Invicta Grammar School and two teams from the John Wallis Academy. We had to answer a number of challenging maths questions that were designed to make us think and work together as a team. Many of the questions that we faced were difficult which meant we all had to use each other’s strengths and knowledge to try to work out the answers.
At the end of the day, when the results were announced, we realised we had won and would be progressing into the final that is due to take place in 2017. Thank you very much Mr Ansette, Second in charge of Mathematics for the opportunity. We all really enjoyed the day and testing our maths skills and we are now looking forward to competing in the final next year!
