Voting for this year’s Kent Youth County Council elections closed on 21st November 2016.  This year, over 24,220 young people across Kent voted.

We were delighted to learn that Elena E in Year 11 has been elected as one of the four members to represent each district in Kent.  Elena declared, “I will involve more young people in the community and local politics, to give us the chance to make real change and make our voices heard!”

Kent Youth County Council voices the views and opinions of Kent’s young people.  It helps young people understand the importance of engaging in the democratic process and learn how their vote can make a difference.

Four deputy members for each area were also elected.  Twelve young people were also elected to community seats.  Each year the new members choose 3 issues to campaign on which are important to young people.

Congratulations to Elena and to all who assisted Elena with her application!
