Two budding chefs from MGGS were fortunate enough to be selected as finalists in this year’s Kent Young Chef competition. After submitting their applications in October showcasing two seasonal dishes that feature local produce, Rebecca L in Year 9 and Elizabeth G in Year 10 were chosen to compete in the live final at West Kent College, Tonbridge.
Competition was tough and both students cooked in a tense two-hour challenge in an industrial kitchen with their courses being judged by some of Kent’s top professional chefs.
Rebecca made Vegetable Pizza, followed by Kentish Poached Pear. Elizabeth created a Goats Cheese and Leek Tartlet with Caramelised Onion, with her dessert featuring Kentish Pears with Cinnamon, Citrus and Ginger.
