Festival of Thinking
MGGS have started our second Festival of Thinking, a two week celebration of our Advanced Thinking Skills status. This year we have encouraged all stakeholders in the school to get involved.
We would like to thank the large number of parents and governors who responded to our survey about how Habits of Mind and Mindset are used beyond school learning. There were some very insightful responses from a huge range of experiences.
Below are a selection of the advice given for today’s students:
In form times students have been watching a series of videos about Learning How to Learn, based on the book of the same name. Why not have a watch of the first one about focused and diffused learning. It is followed by the questions we have discussed.
Learning How to Learn: Why trying to hard can sometimes be a problem
Students have been invited to share their learning experiences with blog entries.
Next Friday students will have the opportunity to partake in The Big Quiz.
Staff have been playing a game of Battleships, having been set a variety of Visible Learning Routines and Thinking Maps to use. They are submitting evidence in exchange for intelligence as to whether they have made a hit or miss! We will share some of these examples with you at a later date.
Thank you to all the staff and students who hav been participating with such enthusiasm this week – we look forward to what our second week will bring!
