National Youth Theatre Success!
We would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to A level Drama and Theatre student Lucy G in year 12 who has just become a member of the prestigious National Youth Theatre!
Over the past 60 years the NYT has nurtured the talent of hundreds of thousands of young people and continues to be recognised as a world-leading youth arts organisation. Today the National Youth Theatre discovers, develops and platforms exceptional performers and theatre technicians aged 14-25 from Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
“The audition process for NYT was a little strange compared to most years as it was all virtual. I first had to send in a self-tape of a 2-3 minute monologue where I performed Rosie’s monologue from the play ‘Things I Know To Be True’. I was then given a recall in the Easter holidays for which I auditioned on Zoom in front of a NYT rep, who also works professionally in the West End. Over 6,000 people auditioned but today I was sent an email inviting me to become a member of the National Youth Theatre.
I will be attending their 2-week intake course in the summer holidays. This is a residential course and will involve me working with 30 other successful applicants of my age in an intensive programme of acting workshops led by industry professionals. Once I have completed the course, I will be eligible to audition for parts in plays put on by the National Theatre and participate in further workshops. I am so excited to be joining NYT and I would encourage anyone passionate about Drama to audition!” Lucy G.
We are excited for you Lucy! We can’t wait see what happens next
