Maidstone Grammar School for Girls – winners of the Digital Day WWF Challenge 2021
CONGRATULATIONS to Ellie, Neha, Lana, and Freya in Year 10 at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls!
The judges were blown away by how creative and innovative all the ideas coming from students were and it proven very difficult for them to pick a winner, but ultimately the winning group were… MGGS students Ellie M, Neha D, Lana G and Freya F in Year 10, for the WWF challenge with their winning idea ‘Tree of Life’ – Solving climate change, one click at a time; an app aimed to reduce carbon footprint.
This is an amazing achievement. The competition received a huge number of submissions from schools all around the country, and the quality was at an all-time high which was certainly not easy to judge but the winning team did an amazing job across all the judging criteria.
This means that Ellie, Neha, Lana, and Freya have won the £500 cash prize for MGGS and will all receive a Digital Day Certificate!
Headteacher, Deborah Stanley commented, “We are thrilled that our students have won this prestigious competition with their app aimed at climate change. We are also especially proud as digital technologies are very much at the forefront of education at MGGS with the school being a Google Partner for Education and being the regional Computing Hub for Kent and East Sussex, supporting schools throughout the South East to deliver outstanding computing lessons.”
