House Arts 2024 is coming…Are you ready?
For the last two years Britons house has shone the brightest and won the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ as MGGS House Arts overall winner (pictured). Are Britons going for a hat-trick, or will another house be this year’s winners?

The theme this year is ‘Heros’ and the format is Drama. The theme was set in July by the Drama Department and House Leaders were first tasked with writing a script (12 minutes long). The topic is really open and they can go anywhere with it. They have all just finished auditions and now they are starting to work with their different casts to stage it. As well as directing House Leaders will also be working with the AV Team to arrange sound and lighting, they also need to design and create their own sets, find props and costume. The competition will take place on Thursday, 24th October and we just can’t wait… soon MGGS will be buzzing with anticipation for the great day!
House Arts Day is all about showcasing the fantastic performances that House Leaders have put together, coming together as a school community. We are all looking forward to seeing the performances and finding out who is going to take the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ this year.
Good luck to every School House!
MGGS has a very well established House system going back many decades. Every student is a member of either Britons, Danes, Normans, Romans, Saxons or Vikings. During the course of the year there are a wide range of House competitions, including our Sports Day. House Arts is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of House events and is an annual competition rotating between Music, Drama and Dance. In the space of one term, Sixth Form House Leaders work tirelessly with members of their Houses to produce performances of outstanding quality.
